 Title: Victim Nine

Ashley: Addison Walker 

Megan: Katie Weiss 

Noah: Connor Murray 

Newscaster: Mya Hauser 

Mom: Amy Weiss 

Scene 1

  • Diegetic sound of texting (Ashley texting Noah). Ashley is seated on the couch in front of the TV. 

  • Zoom in to the TV, full screen. 

  • Newscaster: “8 teenage girls have been the victims of a killer here in Springfield Ohio. The killer allegedly lures their victims in using pictures of teenage boys on the popular social media platform known as Snapchat. Who is this killer?“

  • Mom: “Hey, you should pay attention to this! There are some creepy people out there.” 

  • Ashley: “That’s so stupid, nothing like that ever really happens.” 

  • Pan back to Ashley’s phone and zoom into the screen of her opening photos of “Noah”. Ashley opens a new application on her phone and texts her friend Megan. 


Scene 2:

  • It cuts to Ashley and her friend Megan, shown sitting on the swings together at the park.

  • Ashley: “Hey do you think he's cute?”

  • Megan: “Yeah I mean sure… He’s not really my type. Why are you talking to him?

  • Ashley: “Yeah, I’m hanging with him tomorrow. I just wish he went to our school.”

  • Megan: “What school does he go to?”

  • Ashley: “Oh, he’s homeschooled.”

  • Megan: “That’s a little odd don’t you think?”

  • Ashley: “No! A lot of people are homeschooled.”

  • Megan: “If you say so…”


Scene 3:  

  • Ashley is shown brushing her teeth and putting on a facemask and lays over the side of the bed texting Noah. Ashley lets out a sigh and smiles before pulling the sheets up and going to bed.

Scene 4: 

  • Non-Diegetic sound gets louder.

  • Ashley picks up her phone and smiles at a text from Noah “See you soon.” She begins blow drying her hair and applying makeup. 

  • Ashley exits through the back door. She steps around the corner and mounts her bike.

Scene 5: 

  • A tracking shot is shown as Ashley is biking down the street.

  • She then makes it to the woods, where she was supposed to meet Noah.

Scene 6:

  • The lighting is very dark and eerie.

  • Ashley hears footsteps and stops walking.

  • Ashley: “Noah?”

  • There is no response so she continues to investigate what the sound was.

  • A creepy figure is shown hiding behind a tree spying on Ashley (over the shoulder shot), wearing dark mysterious clothing. Music and nature sounds. 

  • The camera slowly pans away from Ashley and a scream is released from the distance.

Scene 7: 

  • Ashley’s arm is shown on the ground lifeless using a high angle shot.

  • A low-angle shot is used as the killer is facing towards Ashley. His face is cut off in the shot.

  • The killer hears a ding in his pocket, and takes out his phone. 

  • An over the shoulder shot is shown as he looks at a text message from a person called “girl #9”. His hands are bloody in the shot.

Choosing our Pitch

Pitch 1: A little girl's imagination gets out of hand one afternoon. Pitch 2: A girl is doing homework when suddenly she finds a mysterious note left in her book for her. Pitch 3: A young mom is driving to pick up her son from school, when out of the blue and friend from her past comes her way. Pitch one is an ideal one for our group, as it can involve girl characters, and our group has four girls. This leaves us options for us to have someone to film, which is good so we don't have to go out of our way to find another cameraman. This, along with the fact that the wording allows for wiggle room, is a pro to pitch 1. However, we would have to take extra steps to find a little girl to play one of the parts, which adds a bit of a challenge, but I think our group is up for that. Pitch 2 is also a reasonable pitch for our group, because we can have one of us acting and the rest of us tackling other responsibilities. Movie Conventions Research: Bird Box

  Various camera angles, sounds, editing forms, and mis-en-scene were used in this film. For starters, numerous scenes were shot at a medium close-up viewpoint with dark lighting as the mis-en-scene. Dim lighting in the forest setting and  Ambient lighting are two examples of different types of illumination. To achieve a chilling effect, many props were added, including a blindfold and a rowboat down a strong river. The majority of the film was shot with diegetic sound, however there were several instances where there was no sound to create an eerie and mysterious atmosphere within the movie.  Different types of lighting, such as under lighting, were heavily used to generate an ominous impact on viewers. The actors in this film are dressed in costumes that are meant to look worn out and dirty to the audience. The majority of the aspects stated had a positive impact on the movie since they added tension and suspense, which is what this genre is all about. Low angle and eye...

More Filming!

 When Connor arrived, we were ecstatic. This meant we could finish filming all of the scenes now. After me and Katie filmed the scenes in her house, we needed to film the rest of them. We began filming the next scene, which was me riding a bike through a neighborhood. I hopped on the bike and rode it, while Katie and Connor followed me filming as a tracking shot. Thankfully I knew how to ride a bike, so it was fairly easy to film. There was two other locations we needed to film at. One at a playground, and another in the forest at Hugh Taylor Birch State park. The three of us walked to a local playground and started filming the scene with Katie and I. We sat on the swings, rehearsing our lines quickly so we could film with ease. I took multiple shots, so we could pick the best one out of the couple. The props we used in that scene was our phones.
