Music Production

Image
I informed my editor and the whole group that it was time to start the music production once we finished filming and most of the editing. We discovered that finishing the music was a vital part of the editing process after we arrived. I had previously done my homework on which songs and sound tracks were suited for the genre of our film (horror), as well as whose musicians were responsible for their development. After doing some research as a group, I suggested the song "Born Too Late" by the Poni-tails. I sent an email to Warner Chappel, the song's producing company. I dug out the company's phone number and contacted it after a week of no answer. The song would cost $1,000-$2,000 to use, according to the individual I talked with. This was well out of my budget, as well as my entire group's budget. After examining alternative options, I discovered royalty-free music. This means that the person who licenses the song is not obligated to pay a fee, and you do not own

Finishing filming

Image
After about two hours of filming, we were almost finished. All that was left was the murder scene at the end. When filming, I made sure to take multiple shots, so we could pick the best one out of the couple. The props we used in that scene was our phones. Another prop we needed in the murder scene was the knife. We had to film in the forest. Katie's neighbors gave us a key to enter the park. That was very convenient for us. We needed to film before it got too dark, so we were in a rush. As we got to the park, my phone died. I was using my phone to film every scene. So, Katie's phone was used instead to finish filming the remaining scene. Connor was playing the killer in the film, and in the scene he needed to be holding a knife as a prop. As we got ready to film the scene, we ran into a problem. We forgot the knife! So, we had to think of a solution fast. My partner Katie had the idea to ask her sister to bring it over since she was close by and had a car. Katie's sister

More Filming!

When Connor arrived, we were ecstatic. This meant we could finish filming all of the scenes now. After me and Katie filmed the scenes in her house, we needed to film the rest of them. We began filming the next scene, which was me riding a bike through a neighborhood. I hopped on the bike and rode it, while Katie and Connor followed me filming as a tracking shot. Thankfully I knew how to ride a bike, so it was fairly easy to film. There was two other locations we needed to film at. One at a playground, and another in the forest at Hugh Taylor Birch State park. The three of us walked to a local playground and started filming the scene with Katie and I. We sat on the swings, rehearsing our lines quickly so we could film with ease. I took multiple shots, so we could pick the best one out of the couple. The props we used in that scene was our phones. Next, we had to film in the forest. Katie's neighbors gave us a key to enter the park. That was very convenient for us. We needed to film

Beginning to Film!

Image
It was decided that we were going to film on Friday, March 11. I carpooled with Katie back to her house. We started filming at Katie's house right after school. One of my partners Connor was running late because he had to stop by his house after school to bring filming equipment. The original plan was to film with his camera and tripod, but since we were out of time, I just filmed with my phone. Everyone had busy schedules, so this was the only day we could film. It was difficult for half of my partners to make it. In the beginning scene, we needed a video of the newscaster. Mya (the newscaster) couldn't make it, so she filmed it at home. We successfully put the newscaster video on Katie's T.V. and filmed the first scene. It took multiple tries for me to get my lines right. We also filmed another scene in her bedroom of me getting ready and putting on makeup. This was difficult, because I had to film in front of a mirror. When angled poorly, you can see the camera throu

Production Blog: We got rained out!!

I had planned to film most of the outdoor scenes today. These scenes were supposed to be shot in a park to give the audience a scary feeling. Because there was no sunlight, my group and I decided to film late at night. Because there was no sunlight, I carried a flashlight so that the camera could record a clear video of the events. Because my partner's house was the closest to the filming location, I met my partner there with the rest of my group. However, one of my partners was stopped in traffic, so the filming time was cut short. I got ready for filming once we arrived at the house at 5:30 p.m. Because I was the main character, I was in every scene, which meant I could not contribute as much to film. My partner and I gathered all the costumes, and I did my own makeup. Before we started filming, I read the script and rehearsed my lines. Most of the scenes were shot in my partner's home and neighborhood, with one scene shot in a park/forest. The main issue was that we only had

Production Blog: Details

After completing various other processes to prepare for the production of my final work, I still needed to figure out some last aspects. My group had agreed to film at a variety of locations, including many within walking distance of  Katie's home and neighborhood. Many shots for my project will be taken in Katie's house's bedroom and TV room. The rest of the show will take place in and around the local State park, a playground, and the main road. Despite the fact that the shooting site and timetable were well-defined, I felt that many details were overlooked. I wanted to know what each actor would wear first and foremost. Because the Newscaster is the first character in our film, I started with her. For the newscaster, I chose a blazer and a button-down formal shirt. Ashley's mother will then appear, wearing a basic shirt and slacks. As a result, the mother will be immediately distinguishable. Ashley will then dress in a number of casual outfits that are supposed to r

Storyboard Blog

In put storyboard we drew each shot we planned on filming. The first page of our storyboard introduces the main character, Ashley, her mother, Megan, who is Ashley’s best friend, and the current news coverage about a murderer.  The second page of our storyboard shows Ashley introducing Noah to Megan and to the audience for the first time. Megan leaves Ashley’s house and the remaining scenes build up suspense as Ashley gets ready to go to sleep while texting Noah. Finally Ashley is shown waking up and texting Noah.  The third Page of our storyboard shows Ashley getting ready to go out with Noah, as she puts on makeup and blow dries her hair. The next scene shows Ashley sneaking out at night and grabbing her bike. Lastly she brings biking down her street.  The fourth page of our storyboard shows Ashley arriving in mysterious looking woods. She looks around for Noah but is unable to find him at first. Diegetic sound of something stirring in the woods frightens Ashley. Ashley calls Noah’s
