Continuing to Edit

As the editor and I wrapped up putting the videos in order and cutting them to perfection, we still had a lot of editing to do. Next, something very necessary was adding the transitions. In multiple scenes, a simple cut would not suffice. There needed to be many fading transitions, blurred transitions, and transitions fading to black, etc. In the scene where the main character and her mom are sitting on the couch, it cuts to a news caster.  I decided to make that transition a jump cut. This shows how urgent/abrupt the news message was. The editor and I ran into a few problems during editing. We had disagreements on which transitions we should use. We both wanted different feelings to the film. I believed most of the transitions should be normal cuts. This in my opinion, made it seem more real. Using raw cuts gave an eerie feeling to the film. My partner wanted it to have more smooth and creative transitions. Such as fade transitions. After talking, we decided to incorporate both into the transitions. For the scene where the main character gets murdered, we both decided we should do a fade to black. Once it fades to black, there would be a scream, supposedly when she is getting killed. So, we searched up non copyrighted sound effects of a girl screaming and added it to the editing software. I then synced it to where the screen turns black. We added the final touches and finished editing!
