Scenes got deleted

 I was most concerned about the footage being deleted. That, regrettably, became my reality today. I had started editing the film and was feeling extremely productive and successful. But when I was in the middle of editing, my phone died. I quickly put it to charge, hoping nothing got lost. Then, once it started turning on, it randomly started updating. I tried to keep calm and hope for the best. Whenever I update my phone, my photos and videos sometimes don't save to my phone and disappear. It turned on and my worst nightmare became reality. I checked the editing app, to see if my progress had saved. A pop up displayed saying there was missing videos. I quickly open my photo and video gallery and my heart stopped. Half of the videos deleted. I contemplated what to text my group and told them the videos got deleted. Sadly, the scenes would need to be reshot because they were essential to the film. It was the moment when I was going to stab Violet while holding the knife in front of her. My group mates were asking how the videos got deleted and I told them what had happened. Everyone was bummed but we didn't have time to be upset. We needed to re-film and finish the filming process as soon as possible. The very following day, that Saturday, Violet and I made the decision to get together once more at my place to reshoot the scene. Naturally, it would still need to take place when everyone was available. Dara and Mila would still be joining, even if virtually. It was agreed that 1 pm would be a good time for everyone in the group. This time, it was even agreed to store all of the videos on a drive in case something were to happen again.

   Music is important in this film. From the beginning we noticed the nice classical music to accompany the thematic camera shots. It accompanies the film for nearly the entire duration. The music picks up at appropriate times and settles at others. The main character owns his restaurant trying to bring customers in during a pandemic. It addresses the lives of immigrants in America. It covers the expectations saddled upon immigrant children. It also discusses the prejudices that minorities deal with in America. It covers the current events that influence these. The lighting and camera work is very effective. The action matches and eyeline shots are frequent and exciting. The lighting is very dark to fit the gloomy mood of the piece. But all the characters are fully illuminated to keep the film character driven. This film is very interesting and thought provoking. The statistic about half of Chinese restaurants closing during covid is very sad. It is disheartening. This film is perfect

Choosing our Pitch

Pitch 1: A little girl's imagination gets out of hand one afternoon. Pitch 2: A girl is doing homework when suddenly she finds a mysterious note left in her book for her. Pitch 3: A young mom is driving to pick up her son from school, when out of the blue and friend from her past comes her way. Pitch one is an ideal one for our group, as it can involve girl characters, and our group has four girls. This leaves us options for us to have someone to film, which is good so we don't have to go out of our way to find another cameraman. This, along with the fact that the wording allows for wiggle room, is a pro to pitch 1. However, we would have to take extra steps to find a little girl to play one of the parts, which adds a bit of a challenge, but I think our group is up for that. Pitch 2 is also a reasonable pitch for our group, because we can have one of us acting and the rest of us tackling other responsibilities.
